ISO 26262 Tutorials

ISO 26262 is the new standard for safety lifecycle of automotive systems with E/E:p and Software elements that provide safety-related functions to the vehicle. Adapted from the IEC 61508 to address specifically the automotive industry, the standard is due mid-2011 and it will cover the whole development, from early concept definition to testing and maintenance.
With this series of tutorials, we want to provide an overview of the standard and introduce the main concepts of the development. Please keep in mind that safety assessment is complex and require lots of experience, even if these tutorials are aimed at developers or managers who have almost no knowledge of safety-related terminology. We have tried to keep the concepts as simple as possible, so that you can have an overview of the standard.
Note: since pulse-AR is a software company, the tutorials are more focused on system design and software aspects than hardware development.

full name of ISO 26262
sorry, but "ISO WD-26262" is not the full name of the standard. "WD" stands for "Working draft", the draft versions of the standard before the "Committee Draft" (ISO/CD 26262). Since 07/2009 the standard is published as "Draft International Standard", so the full name of this draft is "ISO/DIS 26262".
End of this year/beginning of next year the next version will be published: "Final Draft International Standard", ISO/FDIS 26262.
We exptect the publication of the final standard mid of 2011, then the full name will simply be "ISO 26262".
Regards,
Stefan Kriso.
